Manufacturing & Processing

Experienced Planner and Engineering Designer

FTS is experienced in the planning and engineering design for manufacturing and processing facilities. These are generally covered under our Civil, Structural and Hydraulic engineering services pages however, in the context of a project, FTS bring to the project team our confidence in liaising with the authorities on technical and approval requirements and the requirements of the National Construction Code, and our abilities to design complex frames and foundations to support unusual dynamic vibrations associated with heavy machinery and pipework systems.

Our approach is hands-on and personable. Ensuring a high level of rapport with other consultants of the project team and the authorities associated with an understanding the local issues such are bushfires, slope stability, flooding, earthquake, water supply pressure, trunk drainage and sewerage services to design your plant and associated building systems protection systems to prevent downtime during natural disasters. FTS understand the legal framework to achieve compliance with State Planning Policies, Council Local Environment Plans and Development Control Plan policies and specifications to ensure reasonable conditions applicable to the development approval, construction certification and handover process.

FTS operates fully integrated CAD drafting systems and engineering design software to provide accurate documentation. We have combined our design with structural finite element software, including Multiframe 4D and Strand 7 FEA and Cad systems that can do the 3D drawing if required. For example, our foundation software includes in-house tailored worksheets and the Geotec Office Suite. It’s a powerful tool for analysing piled-raft foundations of arbitrary shape with a real subsoil model. The mathematical solution of the raft is based on the finite element method. The program can analyse different subsoil models, e.g. the three-dimensional Continuum model that considers any number of irregular layers. A good advantage of this program is the capability to handle the three analyses of flexible, elastic, and rigid foundations. In addition, the mesh of the rigid and flexible foundations can be constructed to be analogous to the finite element mesh of the elastic foundation. Therefore, the three analyses can be compared easily and correctly. ELPLA can also represent the effect of external loads, neighbouring foundations, tunnelling, and the influence of the temperature difference on the raft.

Manufacturing

FTS provides engineering design of complex equipment foundations and supports framings plus building systems with static and dynamic load behaviours to high accuracy.

Processing

FTS provides engineering design of complex equipment pipework plus support systems with quasi-static working and test pressures, thermal effects, and 3-dimensional layout plans to high accuracy. Our expertise links all three disciplines of hydraulic, civil and structural engineering with the requirements of the process engineering controls to optimise the design.
